For retail partners
A shelf-ready range, planned around your programme.
Protea Gourmet Meals is a brand-led range from Nivedana Foods, developed for South African retail. Here is how a listing conversation typically works.
Where it fits
Three routes to shelf.
The same eight recipes, adapted to how each channel actually buys and merchandises.
Supermarket groups
A ready-meal shelf that travels: eight globally inspired recipes, one format, clear pack hierarchy. Suited to ambient ready meals, world foods and meal-solution fixtures, with a curated four-line entry option before a full eight-line listing.
- Full eight-line range or curated entry assortment
- Consistent 425 g facing across the shelf
- Launch phasing planned with your category calendar
Wholesale & distribution
Ambient stock behaves well in a distribution network — no cold chain, standard dry storage and a long working shelf life that supports order cycles and regional coverage.
- Case and pallet configuration agreed per partner
- Regional coverage discussions welcome
- Documentation configured with your programme
Convenience & forecourt
A single-portion ambient meal fits formats where chilled space is scarce. Shelf-ready presentation and a recognisable pack block make small fixtures workable.
- No chilled space required
- Compact facing footprint
- Recognisable pack block across cuisines
Onboarding
From first conversation to first order.
Five steps, with nothing hidden behind a form. Where something isn't confirmed yet, we say so.
01
Introductory conversation
You share your category, channel and the assortment you're considering. We share the range, the working specification and where the brand is in development.
02
Assortment proposal
We propose which of the eight recipes suit your shopper and shelf, with the rationale for each line and a suggested launch order.
03
Technical pack
Final specifications, allergen declarations and the appointed manufacturing site's documentation are shared as they are released.
04
Supply programme
Case count, pallet configuration, barcoding, lead times and minimum order quantity are configured together, against your depot standards.
05
Listing & launch
Artwork approval, launch phasing and in-store support are agreed, then the range goes live in the agreed stores.
Packaging & logistics
An ambient format keeps the chain simple.
Each meal is a 425 g gusseted retort pouch, shelf stable at ambient temperature. That removes chilled and frozen handling from the route to shelf and keeps storage requirements conventional.
Secondary packaging is deliberately open: case counts, carton dimensions and pallet configuration are planned with you rather than pre-fixed, so the format matches your depot and shelf standards.
Shelf life is presented as 24 months* — Working specification; validation and final release documentation pending.
What we’ll need from you
- Channel and store count under consideration
- Depot and pallet standards
- Barcode and market documentation requirements
- Category window and launch timing
- Any own-label or retailer-specific interest
Retailer-specific or own-label formats can be discussed on request. The Protea brand range remains our primary offer.
